SEENET held a second online workshop focusing on the external communication on Thursday 28.05. Lecturers were communication managers which shared their advice and tips for improving the ways to present an organisation and its messages and activities.
After a very successful first workshop on visual material, SEENET continues with skill and advice sharing among the network with the second online workshop named Fundamentals of successful communication. Lecturers were Sandra Josović, communication manager in Center for Environment BiH, journalist by profession with two decades of experience, and Elena Nikolovska, communication manager from Eko Svest, North Macedonia former freelance journalist with great experience in reporting environmental and climate issues.
Starting from the basics Sandra explained what communication is and why it is important. She elaborated crucial points for media appearances, press releases and statements, what are five Ws, how to convey message in public actions and protests and many more. After that, Elena shared her experience in climate communication and explained how to write for campaigns, events and blogs, but also how to effectively pitch the environment related news to editors (national, regional and international). She elaborated what are the challenges of communicating climate change specific to Balkan and how to overcome them.
