Support for CEKOR and the citizens from local affected communities in Kolubara lignite basin

SEENET member organizations support their colleagues from Serbia in today's protest in Belgrade, opposing Serbian energy investments harmful for the people and the climate.

SEENET member organizations Center for Ecology and Energy (CEE), Center for environment – Friends of the Earth Bosnia & Herzegovina (CZZS), Green Home, and Zelena akcija – Friends of the Earth Croatia support Center for Ecology and Sustainable Development - CEKOR and the citizens from the local affected communities of Medoševac, Veliki Crljeni, Zeoke and Baroševac, in Kolubara's lignite basin, in today's protest in Belgrade, opposing Serbian energy investments harmful to the people and the climate. Due to the planned expansion of Kolubara's open pit mine (known as field "E") whose EIA is currently under consideration of the Serbian Ministry for environment, CEKOR and the citizens of the mentioned affected local communities demand the resettlement of their inhabitants' to healthier and safer areas, prior to the opening of "field E".
